1. 바람을 보고 무서워 빠져 가는지라

    소리 질러 이르되 주여 나를 구원 하소서 하니

    예수께서 즉시 손을 내밀어 그를 붙잡으시며 이르시되

    믿음이 작은 자여 왜 의심하였느냐 하시고”(마 14:30-31).

   The Person of Peter

  “But when he saw that the wind was boisterous,

   he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out,

   saying, ‘Lord, save me’

   And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, 

   and said to him, ‘O you of little faith, why did you doubt?’” (Matthew 14:30, 31, NKJV).

2. “너희가 진리를 순종함으로 너희 영혼을 깨끗하게 하여

       거짓이 없이 형제를 사랑하기에 이르렀으니

       마음으로 뜨겁게 서로 사랑하라”(벧전 1:22).

    “Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth

      so that you have sincere love for each other,

      love one another deeply, from the heart” (1 Peter 1:22, NIV).

3. “그러나 너희는 택하신 족속이요 왕 같은 제사장들이요

      거룩한 나라요 그의 소유가 된 백성이니

      이는 너희를 어두운 데서 불러내어

     그의 기이한 빛에 들어가게 하신 이의

     아름다운 덕을 선포하게 하려 하심이라”(벧전 2:9).

   “You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood,

     a holy nation, His own people,

     that you may proclaim the praises of Him

     who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light”

                                                  (1 Peter. 2:9, NKJV).

4. “무엇보다도 뜨겁게 서로 사랑할지니

      사랑은 허다한 죄를 덮느니라”(벧전 4:8).

    “Above all things have fervent love for one another,

     for love will cover a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8, NKJV).

5. “주의 눈은 의인을 향하시고 그의 귀는 의인의 간구에 기울이시되

      주의 얼굴은 악행하는 자들을 대하시느니라 하였느니라”(벧전 3:12).

    “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,

     And His ears are open to their prayers;

     But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

                                            (1 Peter 3:12, NKJV).

6. “이를 위하여 너희가 부르심을 받았으니

     그리스도도 너희를 위하여 고난을 받으사 너희에게 본을 끼쳐

     그 자취를 따라오게 하려 하셨느니라”(벧전 2:21).

    “For to this you were called,

     because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example,

     that you should follow in His steps” (1 Peter 2:21, NKJV).

7. “너희 염려를 다 주께 맡기라 이는 그가 너희를 돌보심이라”(벧전 5:7).

    “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you”

                                                       (1 Peter 5:7, NKJV). 

8. “친히 나무에 달려 그 몸으로 우리 죄를 담당하셨으니

      이는 우리로 죄에 대하여 죽고 의에 대하여 살게 하려 하심이라

      그가 채찍에 맞음으로 너희는 나음을 얻었나니”(벧전 2:24).

     Who himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree,

     that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by

     whose stripes you were healed“ (1 Peter 2:24, NKJV).

9. “그러므로 너희가 더욱 힘써 너희 믿음에 덕을, 덕에 지식을,

     지식에 절제를, 절제에 인내를, 인내에 경건을, 경건에 형제 우애를,

     형제 우애에 사랑을 더하라”(벧후 1:5-7).

   “For this very reason,

    make every effort to add to your faith goodness;

    and to goodness, knowledge;

    and to knowledge, self-control;

    and to self-control, perseverance;

    and to perseverance, godliness;

    and to godliness, mutual affection;

    and to mutual affection, love” (2 Peter 1:5-7, NIV).

10. “또 우리에게는 더 확실한 예언이 있어

        어두운 데를 비추는 등불과 같으니

        날이 새어 샛별이 너희 마음에 떠오르기까지

        너희가 이것을 주의하는 것이 옳으니라”(벧후 1:19).

      “We have also a more sure word of prophecy;

        where unto ye do well that ye take heed,

        as unto a light that shining in a dark place,

        until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts”

                                                                (2 Peter 1:19).

 11. “그들에게 자유를 준다 하여도 자신들은 멸망의 종들이니    

          누구든지 진 자는 이긴 자의 종이 됨이라”(벧후 2:19).

        “They promise them freedom,

          but they themselves are slaves of corruption;

          for people are slaves to whatever masters them”

                                                     (2 Peter 2:19, NRSV).

12. “이 모든 것이 이렇게 풀어지리니

        너희가 어떠한 사람이 되어야 마땅하냐

        거룩한 행실과 경건함으로”(벧후 3:11).

      “Since all these things are to be dissolved in this way,

       what sort of persons ought you to be

       in leading lives of holiness and godliness” (2 Peter 3:11, NRSV).

13. “그리스도께서도 단번에 죄를 위하여 죽으사

         의인으로서 불의한 자를 대신하셨으니

         이는 우리를 하나님 앞으로 인도하려 하심이라

         육체로는 죽임을 당하시고 영으로는 살리심을 받으셨으니”(벧전 3:18).

       “For Christ also suffered once for sins,

        the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God,

        being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, (1 Peter 3:18).
